MINI Power Loss, Multiple Diagnostic Trouble Codes

The customer says the MINI Cooper loses power between 30 and 40 mph for a couple of seconds, with other components also powering down. The A/C blower will drop, and after the engine picks back up, the MIL illuminates.

Symptom: The customer says the vehicle loses power between 30 and 40 mph for a couple of seconds, with other components also powering down. The A/C blower will drop, and after the engine picks back up, the MIL illuminates.

Trouble Code Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced:

> Tested alternator, failed ripple test & replaced.
> Codes shown after alternator replacement:
• ABS: 5DBB Wake Up Line Error
• Elec. Immob: AOBD Wake Up Line Error
• Tire Pressure Monitoring: 5DBB Wake Up Line Error
• Air Bag: 93B1 Passenger Head Air Bag History
> Codes shown prior to alternator replacement:
• Engine (DME/DDE): 2E67 No BSD Message From Generator 2845 Vanos Exhaust Activation Movement (Found Low Oil)
Immobilizer: A0B6 Selector Lever Interlock
Air Bag: 93B1 Passenger Head Air Bag
• Information not available to reset these codes.
Cause: Common connections for systems covered by the codes led to discovery of corrosion in the grounds near the passenger-side fuse block and chassis grounds.
Correction: Cleaned and treated all grounds and connections to that fuse block. All codes cleared and all symptoms disappeared.
