Complaint
The customer states the check engine light is on.

Cause
Connected a scan tool and found codes P0715 — Input/Turbine Speed Sensor “A” Circuit. At idle, allowed the vehicle to reach operating temperature, checked the transmission fluid and found no obvious faults. Engine running, raised the vehicle and shifted the transmission into drive. Used a scan tool to monitor live data and found the transmission speed sensor parameter was 0 rpm with the wheels rotating. Key off, disconnected the transmission speed sensor harness connector, performed an inspection of the transmission speed sensor wiring harness and found no faults. Used a multimeter to measure the resistance of the transmission speed sensor and found it was out of limits.

Correction
Replaced the transmission speed sensor, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
