Back in my day at the service station, when a customer came in for an oil change, they pulled it into a grease pit and we would grease up everything on the vehicle—ball joints, universal joints, and then we would do the oil changes. Today, it’s different. Vehicles are a lot more low maintenance.
However, the aftermarket has not abandoned the message that lubrication is required for certain repair components to make that repair just that much better. In other words, we have ball joints that have grease nipples that need to be lubricated every so often, like during an oil change. It’s also written in the vehicle service information that doors and lift hatches need to be lubricated every so often.
Your shop probably has an oil change and you probably call it an LOF. So let’s put that L back in LOF: lubrication, oil, filter.
