The BMW N54 engine uses a unique PCV system for crankcase ventilation in the valve cover. The PCV system separates the oil from the crankcase vapor as well as controls the pressure and when the gases are vented into the intake manifold. If the part is malfunctioning, the engine will burn oil and have poor idle quality. In this video, Andrew Markel discusses the replacement options for the turbocharged N54 engine.
