Tech Tips for Dorman’s OE FIX Steering Tie Rod End Assembly

On certain 2021 to 2023 Ford Bronco SUVs, the original tie rods are similar to the diameter and design as those on much lighter passenger sedans, making them susceptible to snapping under steering stresses. Breaks can also occur on Broncos that are used off-road and/or lifted to accommodate larger tires, whether in factory trim or with aftermarket lift kits. The dealer offers a similar tie rod design as a replacement, inviting the same issue again. Our Dorman TA87445RDOE FIX™ kit is engineered to provide a more permanent solution. The kit features many upgrades, including larger outer and inner tie rods than the factory rods, as well as a larger thread interface than the original equipment. In addition to the 2 tie rods, this kit contains 2 steering rack bellows and bellows adapters, and all the hardware for a complete installation on multiple generations of Bronco steering racks. Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 12-17 C-Class, CLS-Class, E-Class, GL-Class, GLC-Class, GLE-Class, GLK-Class, GLS-Class, M-Class, and S-Class vehicles (205, 218, 207, 212, 213, 166, 253, 292, 204, 217, 222 platforms) that are driven for extended periods of time in salt-belt states and that are operated in high-corrosion environments with exposure to road salt may experience varying levels of corrosion on specific bolts that are used on the power steering rack. This corrosion, along with certain weighted driving loads, could result in the fracturing of these bolts. This campaign affects approximately 418,851 vehicles.
