Niterra President and CEO Mike Schwab on ‘Delivering Trusted Solutions’

Niterra President and CEO Mike Schwab on ‘Delivering Trusted Solutions’

Schwab said the transition from NGK Spark Plug to Niterra represents a broader transformation rather than simply a name change.

This episode of DriveTime features Mike Schwab, president and CEO of Niterra North America, Inc.

Schwab said Niterra has evolved well beyond its roots as an ignition specialist while maintaining the quality and reliability associated with its NGK brand. Today, Niterra’s automotive portfolio extends beyond spark plugs to include ignition coils, wire sets, NTK oxygen and technical sensors and rotating electrical products such as starters and alternators.

Schwab emphasized that quality, integrity, teamwork and consistent execution remain fundamental to Niterra’s business strategy, even as the industry evolves. These principles, he says, guide how the company serves customers, from delivering dependable products and maintaining transparency to strengthening partnerships and addressing customer challenges. Schwab emphasized that execution means consistently delivering on commitments involving product availability, customer service and new product introductions. While technology and product offerings will continue to change, he believes trust, reliability and strong customer relationships will remain essential to the company’s long-term success.

Looking ahead, Schwab said the transition from NGK Spark Plug to Niterra represents a broader transformation rather than simply a name change. While continuing to strengthen its automotive business, the company is pursuing growth in new products, technologies and markets that build on its engineering capabilities. Opportunities in advanced mobility, electric vehicles and other emerging technologies are part of that strategy. Schwab said the Niterra name, derived from Latin words meaning “to shine” and “Earth,” reflects the company’s ambition to contribute to a more sustainable future.
