Audi A New Seal on The Block

Audi A New Seal on The Block

The PTFE seal provides a wider operating temperature and a low coefficient of friction.

Polyurethane, FEP and Nitrile seals don’t always fare well in resisting chemicals and handling engine temperature extremes. But, PTFE oil seals do. PTFE has come a long way over the years and is now the ideal material for critical cylinder head and engine block applications. With a wider operating temperature and a low coefficient of friction, it makes for an excellent shaft seal.

Because PTFE seals are different than traditional seals, some special application tips are helpful.

  1. Always install the seal “dry” because a proper seal can’t be achieved if grease or oil is present.
  2. Keep the sealing surface completely smooth by removing any sharp edges or burrs.
  3. Install it with a plastic tool (usually supplied) to ensure that the seal lip isn’t compromised.
  4. Wait at least four hours before operating the motor to ensure proper positioning.

AMG is the performance line of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, just like Nismo is to Nissan, and M is to BMW. I can tell you from experience that there are many exciting vehicles wearing that AMG badge. They’re powerful, luxurious and they make a sound unlike any other.

But, just like all motor vehicles, they require service from time to time. Slowing the vehicle down from high speeds takes a toll on the brakes, wearing them down over time. So, today let’s take a look at some of the things you need to know in order to service the brakes on a Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicle.

Audi TFSI/FSI: Oil Consumption And Carbon Buildup

Technical Service Bulletins can be valuable in helping solve vehicle problems. But sometimes, it takes multiple TSBs to find a pattern failure or the “root cause” of a problem. In the case of the Audi/VW 2.0L Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) engine introduced in 2006, three problems related to engine carbon and fuel issues are connected
