Federal-Mogul has announced the addition of nearly 70 parts to its MOOG Steering and Suspension product line. The latest expansion of the MOOG line includes more than 50 parts for late-model foreign nameplate passenger vehicles from BMW, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Toyota and other manufacturers.

“We continue to aggressively expand our foreign nameplate coverage to help vehicle service providers increase their share of this growing category,” said Mark Boyle, director, steering and suspension products, North America, Federal-Mogul Vehicle Components segment. “This coverage advantage complements our heritage of designing and manufacturing parts that outperform the original designs. Each MOOG Asia-Spec and Euro-Spec part is engineered to provide the precise steering response and superior durability expected by today’s vehicle owners.”

The new parts include 12 MOOG R-Series replacement control arms and assemblies, 32 stabilizer bar bushing kits, several stabilizer bar link kits and a variety of tie rod ends, ball joints, coil spring sets and other premium-quality components. Federal-Mogul also continues to expand its line of MOOG complete strut assemblies, with two new assemblies now available for 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner trucks.

As the automotive service industry’s “Problem Solver,” the MOOG brand offers innovative technologies that improve on original component designs for longer life, superior performance and faster, easier installation, Federal-Mogul states.

The BMW N53 (naturally aspired) and N54 (turbocharged) engines were among the first BMW engines to come with variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts. The N53 and N54 straight-six have unfairly earned a bad reputation for reliability with technicians due to timing chain and variable valve timing problems. The reputation comes from owners not keeping up with oil changes and it is difficult to check engine timing.
