The A/C compressor can be the highest load component on some belt drive systems. The sudden engagement of the clutch can cause slippage and wear to a belt that is past its prime. When replacing an A/C compressor, inspect the old belt for groove depth and overall condition. Also, inspect the entire belt drive system including the tensioner, alternator decoupled and idler pulleys. This video is sponsored by Litens.
