DENSO Announces Major Expansion Of TPMS Sensor Coverage

DENSO Products and Services Americas has added 14 new part numbers to its selection of First Time Fit tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors. As a result, DENSO now covers an additional 10 million European and Korean vehicles as part of its comprehensive inventory of 67 part numbers in the company’s 2017 TPMS Sensor Catalog.

Andrew Markel stresses the importance of stocking TPMS sensor kits, and replacing them whenever a tire is changed or repaired.

Mercedes-Benz TPMS Service

On different Mercedes-Benz models, you will see two types of TPMS systems. Low-line systems do not display individual tire pressures. These systems just monitor inflation and alert the driver if there is an underinflation or overinflation problem with one antenna. Mid-line systems display the individual pressures, and some systems have four antennas mounted near the wheel wells.

ATEQ Introduces VT36 TPMS Sensor Activation And Programming Tool

With the VT36, a service manager or technician can quickly diagnose a vehicle’s TPMS sensors in the parking lot before entering it into the service bay. All sensor data is displayed in seconds: ID, battery status, tire temperature and pressure.

TPMS Sensor Battery: Dead Sensors Cause Other Problems, Too

During the initial TPMS phase-in, many warned about what sounded like an impending crisis. It was the “tire guy’s apocalypse,” which sounds dramatic, but that’s the way I remember the situation being characterized. There was worry and paranoia from all sides. Some companies undoubtedly saw it as a marketing opportunity, and helped perpetuate some of the fear and anxiety. The gist I got from the marketing I saw was that changing tires would, as we knew it, never be the same.

Stocking TPMS Service Kits And Sensors

If you service tires, you should be stocking TPMS service kits as well as sensors. Avoiding the investment in parts and training could leave you with customers who are not satisfied. But, with aftermarket manufacturers of TPMS service items making them more economical for your shop to stock, you shouldn’t give it a second thought.

Kia Tech Tip: TPMS Sensors And Electrical Interference

Some non-OEM electrical products including, but not limited to, some aftermarket in-dash navigation systems originally intended for non-U.S. markets, may emit electrical noise in the 315MHz frequency band and may cause the TPMS low pressure/malfunction indicator light to illuminate.

Nissan TPMS Service Essentials – Start With Having The Right Tools

Most Nissan TPMS systems use a single receiver that detects signals from the four sensors (five if the spare tire has a sensor). The sensor transmits ID and pressure information at specified intervals or when a rapid deflation event is detected. The sensors have small accelerometers that trigger operation when the vehicle is moving.

TPMS Maintenance Minute: Best-Practice Rules To Follow

If you want to get the maximum life of 70,000 to 100,000 miles out of a TPMS sensor, you will have to do some maintenance and follow some rules.

Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems On Import Vehicles

Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) began making a comeback in 2011 on all Audi models. The highly popular Honda Accord switched to indirect TPMS for the 2013 model year. The 2013 Mazda CX-5 is now also using an indirect TPMS. Some of the VW Golf platform vehicles have switched to an indirect TPMS. Most of these models have the optional ABS and stability control system.

DENSO Launches Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensor Program

DENSO Products and Services Americas has launched a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor program to support its aftermarket customers’ needs. According to DENSO, just 16 part numbers cover more than 100 popular passenger cars, SUVs, trucks and crossovers – more than 25 million vehicles on the road. Additional DENSO TPMS sensor part numbers will be announced later this year, the company adds.
