Schrader Releases 2012 Application Data for TPMS Portfolio

Schrader has announced the release of its 2012 catalog of application data for TPMS-equipped vehicles. Schrader says it is the first company to make available important 2012 make, model and year (MMY) and correlated Schrader part information for TPMS-enabled vehicles, further cementing its commitment to providing the most comprehensive and accurate application data possible.

“The process of collecting, validating and delivering accurate application data is essential to the support of our customers – it allows the aftermarket community to accurately service more of their customers and is critical for the installation of Schrader replacement sensors, service packs and other TPMS-related products,” said Trevor Potter, vice president of Aftermarket, Schrader. “By delivering 2012 application data in-year, we’re enabling our aftermarket customers to stay further ahead of the curve.”

Schrader’s application research process is focused on providing comprehensive, verified and accurate results that will enable the service and repair industry to better service their customers. With more than 54 percent of global vehicle platforms carrying Schrader TPMS sensor technology off the assembly line, and more than 160 million actual Schrader sensors on the road today, the company says it has extensive access and insight into important vehicle information. In addition to a thorough review of existing vehicle platforms that will be carried forward into the New Year, Schrader has incorporated details about new model types with Schrader sensors in the 2012 catalog. For example, in addition to widely known models that are carried forward, the catalog includes application data on new vehicles such as the Aston Martin Virage, Audi A7, BMW X1, Kia Cadenza, Scion iQ, and the Volkswagen Polo, among others.

“With more than 256 million sensors within 65 million vehicles in North America, aftermarket service and repair facilities will always need the latest, most accurate information on replacement TPMS parts for the diverse vehicle types that enter their service bays,” said Scot Holloway, general manager, Bartec. “Schrader and Bartec have not only combined to deliver the Schrader EZ-sensor, the industry’s first patented and programmable sensor solution, but are also working together to ensure accuracy and timeliness in new MMY application data. This updated data is not only available in print-catalog form, but the same 2012 data will be available for update within Bartec handheld TPMS-programming tools as well.”

Schrader’s 2012 catalog of application data will be sent to customers, as well as available in the Schrader Booth (No. 40079) at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show from Nov. 1-4 in Las Vegas. To service them, you will need the appropriate toolset to lock the crank and camshaft.

The BMW N53 (naturally aspired) and N54 (turbocharged) engines were among the first BMW engines to come with variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts. The N53 and N54 straight-six have unfairly earned a bad reputation for reliability with technicians due to timing chain and variable valve timing problems. The reputation comes from owners not keeping up with oil changes and it is difficult to check engine timing.
