CRC Industries has announced it is sponsoring BimmerWorld Racing in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series for 2011. CRC is enhancing its motorsports program for 2011 in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of its CRC BRAKELEEN parts cleaner.

As part of the newly expanded program, CRC and BimmerWorld unveiled the No. 79 CRC BRAKLEEN car at the Kia 200, the second event of the season in the Grand-Am series. The BMW E92 M3 debuted at Homestead-Miami Speedway with its new look — a complete graphics wrap of the car, prominently displaying the CRC BRAKLEEN image and CRC logos.

"CRC has sponsored BimmerWorld on a smaller scale over the past few years," said Julie Williams, marketing manager for CRC. "We are so impressed with the growth and hunger we’ve seen from this team that it was an easy decision to increase our partnership. This year we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of CRC BRAKLEEN, the original aerosol brake parts cleaner and No. 1 seller in the industry. BimmerWorld will play a pivotal role in advertising this product and conveying our brand message to automotive technicians and do-it-yourselfers."

BimmerWorld team owner James Clay said, "CRC is our brand of choice for automotive performance chemicals to service our race cars. We only partner with manufacturers of products that we trust enough to use ourselves, and we know we can always rely on CRC for superior quality and to keep our parts operating and cars running at peak performance."

"The graphics wrap process is amazing," adds Clay, co-driver of the No. 79 car. "The wrap is printed on a vinyl film material using a three-color process. The repositionable vinyl allows the installer to lift and apply multiple times, and also leaves paths for trapped air to work its way out. Installation takes about five hours for a complete car and the standard tool kit includes squeegees, a razor for trimming and a blowtorch to stretch and shrink the vinyl."

Timing BMW VANOS N53 And N54

To service them, you will need the appropriate toolset to lock the crank and camshaft.

The BMW N53 (naturally aspired) and N54 (turbocharged) engines were among the first BMW engines to come with variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts. The N53 and N54 straight-six have unfairly earned a bad reputation for reliability with technicians due to timing chain and variable valve timing problems. The reputation comes from owners not keeping up with oil changes and it is difficult to check engine timing.
