Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama is making a big donation to area schools.

Toyota Alabama president Jim Bolte announced 45 V6 engines will go to seven North Alabama schools in six counties during the quarterly meeting of the Northeast Alabama Development Council. The counties receiving the engines are located in Madison, Limestone, Morgan, Marshall, DeKalb and Cullman Counties.

Tanner High School tenth grade student Leslie Pitts will be one of the beneficiaries of this donation. He will get to work on these engines at the Limestone County Career Technical Center — where Pitts receives his automotive training. He believes working with these new model Toyota engines will challenge him to improve his overall skill set.

“I’m not used to dealing with all the electronic hardware on these new engines, which is something I need to get more acquainted with,” says Pitts.
