Tech Tip: Mercedes-Benz Noises, Vibration At Steering Wheel With A/C Switched On

If you receive customer reports on Model 209.372/472 vehicles of a groaning noise and vibration felt in the steering wheel at engine speeds between 800 and 2,000 rpm and with the A/C on, the cause may be the transfer of vibration from the A/C compressor through the high-pressure power steering hose to the steering wheel.

Brake Job On 2000-2006 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van

The 2000-2006 Sprinter cargo van may seem unique for its small displacement diesel engine and large hauling capacity. But, at the wheels, the brakes are very conventional. There are two brake systems on the Sprinter that came with the 2500 and 3500 models.

Diagnosing A P0301 Misfire Code On A 2001 Mercedes-Benz E320 Sedan

Since the advent of OBD II, every vehicle is equipped with a sophisticated system that measures each cylinder’s contribution to engine power, becoming one of the most difficult challenges we face. Each time a cylinder fires, the misfire monitor uses a highly accurate crankshaft angle measurement to measure the crankshaft position. This system needs to have an accurate crankshaft position sensor that is able to read the crankshaft position, even at high RPM, sending a clear signal to the PCM. Then the PCM monitors the crankshaft acceleration time for each cylinder at the firing time.

Mercedes-Benz Tech Tip: Insufficient Alternator/Generator Output

On select Mercedes-Benz model vehicles, if you encounter insufficient alternator/generator (G2) output, the voltage regulator, integral to G2 output, may be malfunctioning. The voltage regulator may be replaced as a separate part and the procedure in this Tech Tip should be followed.

Diagnosing Common Pattern Failures on Mercedes-Benz Vehicles

Mercedes-Benz cars have long been associated with fine design and manufacturing quality. The proof for me is its use as hired transportation (taxi and bus) in many Third World countries. But for the U.S. market, the addition of power accessories and electronics is much more prominent than in other parts of the world. A quick overview of the most common complaints and repair patterns points to electrical problems as a serious problem for many M-B models produced in the last 15 to 20 years.
