CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – There is a resurgence in thefts of catalytic converters. According to City of Charleston police, thieves are targeting Toyota 4Runner trucks, though almost any vehicle is vulnerable.

These type trucks are high off the ground, and the converters themselves are often bolted on so they don’t necessarily have to be cut off, according to police.

Authorities recommend you put these type of trucks in a garage, if possible.

Also, if you see people working on a vehicle, looking around suspiciously, or carrying around tools, please call Charleston police at 577-7434.
