Federal-Mogul Corporation will offer automotive aftermarket professionals the chance to win a beautifully restored and updated 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu during the second annual Federal-Mogul TEC Training Excellence Sweepstakes.

Sponsored by the Federal-Mogul Technical Education Center (TEC) in St. Louis, MO, the sweepstakes is open to any automotive technician, machinist or parts professional who attends a 2006 TEC workshop in St. Louis, an evening field seminar in the U.S. or Canada, or who enrolls via mail.

Federal-Mogul TEC delivered its 2005 sweepstakes grand prize – a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino SS – to winner Brad LaRue, a Ponca City, OK, technician, in December.

The street-ready Chevelle Malibu being offered in the 2006 sweepstakes features a fully updated engine, four-speed transmission, power steering and restored body and interior. Technicians attending 2006 TEC workshops in St. Louis will help complete a broad range of technology updates on the vehicle, with the addition of new Sealed Power internal engine components, Fel-Pro gaskets, Moog steering and suspension components, Precision u-joint, National wheel bearings and seals, Carter fuel delivery components, Champion spark plugs, PowerMAX spark plug wires, ANCO wiper blades, Wagner brake components and Wagner headlamps.

"We’re once again enhancing a classic street machine with the latest premium technologies from Federal-Mogul’s aftermarket product portfolio," said Bruce Maize, director, technical service and customer support, Federal-Mogul. "Every aftermarket professional who attends a TEC workshop or field training clinic comes away with rewards in the form of increased knowledge and skill, but this beautiful car will make the experience even more memorable."

Federal-Mogul TEC offers a full range of on-site and field training workshops covering engine, steering and suspension, driveline, brake, fuel system, ignition and automotive electronics. Courses are taught by ASE Master Certified instructors and utilize the latest diagnostic tools and equipment. The Technical Education Center has been awarded the Continuing Automotive Service Education (CASE) certification, joining such leading organizations as General Motors Service Technology Group, Toyota Motor Sales USA and Navistar International as a premier provider of technical training.

House Subcommittee Votes to Approve REPAIR Act

The REPAIR Act will now go before the full House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Members of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce unanimously voted to advance the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act (H.R. 906) to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Building on two recent congressional hearings and last week’s White House roundtable on Right to Repair, this support from Congress is a promising step forward in codifying vehicle data access protections – as part of the broader right to repair movement – in federal law. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives in February this year by Congressmen Neal Dunn, Brendan Boyle and Warren Davidson as well as Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, the only repair shop owner in Congress. Since then, it has gained an additional 40-plus bipartisan cosponsors.
