Goodyear Announces Blimp Naming Finalists

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. announced the 10 finalists for its Name the Blimp Contest, launched last month. Consumers submitted more than 21,000 unique names for the tiremaker's newest airship, according to Goodyear.

Consumers submitted more than 21,000 unique names for the tiremaker’s newest airship, according to Goodyear.

According to Goodyear, the names that made the finals included:
• American Dream;
• Freedom;
• Liberty;
• Patriot;
• Patriot of Peace;
• Pride of America;
• Spirit of Endurance;
• Spirit of Ingenuity;
• Spirit of Innovation; and
• Spirit of Peace.

"We were thrilled by the tremendous response both in quantity and quality of the submissions," said Chuck Sinclair, senior vice president of global communications for Goodyear. "There were several emerging themes that illustrate the passion that the American public has for our iconic airships."

Now, the general public will get to vote for the blimp’s moniker. Votes will be taken at the official contest website – www.nametheblimp.com – through May 31.
