Fidanza Sponsors Martino Motorsports in Drag Race Competition

Fidanza will sponsor Martino Motorsports (Youngstown, OH) in International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag race competition this year.

Fidanza will sponsor Martino Motorsports (Youngstown, OH) in International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag race competition this year.

Martino Motorsports, represented by father-son tandem Tom and Ryan Martino, is poised to challenge for the IHRA Quick Rod and NHRA Super Comp class titles in 2007 behind the wheel of its exclusively designed 2003 Mac Sherrill swing-arm rear-engine dragster. The vehicle features an 850 horsepower, 505 cubic-inch big block Chevrolet engine built by Gellner Engineering (Parma, OH) and has recorded 7-second runs at 175 miles-per-hour.

The dragster is also equipped with a 168-tooth Chevrolet flex plate from Fidanza, who enters its second year as an official Martino Motorsports sponsor.

"We’re race fans, and fans of racers," said Bob Scheid, vice president, Fidanza. "It’s the spirit of motorsports competition that drives our business and we take great pleasure in supporting such enthusiastic participants as Tom and Ryan."

For Martino Motorsports, competition is not about business, it’s about something more important.

"Family," said Ryan Martino, who has been driving for five years. "We all travel together on the weekends. Racing brings us closer. It’s the best reason to do what we do."

Ryan’s father Tom, an avid enthusiast for more than 40 years and the team’s primary driver, agrees.

"Win or lose, we do it as family," said Tom Martino. "It’s not just a father-son thing. It’s more like a father-son-wife-cousin-uncle-aunt-grandpa thing!"

Martino Motorsports plans to compete in a total of 15 IHRA and NHRA events in 2007.
