TechSmart Releases New PMD Relocation Kit Tech Session Video

Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP) has released a new TechSmart Tech Session featuring the TechSmart PMD Relocation Kit (S39001). This video presents a real-life solution to the problem found in many GM 6.5L diesel engines.

Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP) has released a new TechSmart Tech Session featuring the TechSmart PMD Relocation Kit (S39001). This video presents a real-life solution to the problem found in many GM 6.5L diesel engines.

A poor OE mounting location exposes the original pump mounted driver (PMD) module to an excessive amount of heat soak that can destroy the internal components over time. The TechSmart kit allows technicians to relocate the PMD anywhere they choose in the engine bay. By selecting an optimum location for the new module, exposure to the harsh engine operating temperatures can be minimized, improving the PMD performance and extending its service life.

“Here’s another TechSmart solution,” said Phil Hutchens, senior director of marketing, SMP. “We include everything in our kit that technicians need to solve this problem, such as a brand new PMD module, relocation harness, aluminum heat sink, mounting hardware, and a no. 9 resistor for exceptional performance.”

TechSmart also offers a version of the relocation kit without the PMD module (S39002) for technicians who would like to take advantage of the TechSmart relocation solution, but still have a working PMD module.

The Tech Session video series is available for viewing on the TechSmart YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/TechSmartParts, as well as on www.facebook.com/TechSmartParts by clicking on the video channel button. Tech Sessions are designed to help professional technicians find new and better ways to solve their automotive repair issues. Other videos focus on the TechSmart new electronic throttle bodies, air door actuators and the VVT chain tensioner.

The TechSmart line of enhanced engine control parts are designed to meet the needs of today’s professional service technicians by providing them with high-quality, hard-to-find, problem-solving parts featuring new categories and new technology that they can trust.
