Gates Partners With Ronald McDonald House Charities To Raise $150,000

The Automotive Aftermarket division of the Gates Corp. has announced an official partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), through which it hopes to raise $150,000 for the charity by Dec. 1, 2014.

The official partnership kicked off on Aug. 1 with two main program components – the offering of a business-building kit for repair shops that can be purchased through Gates suppliers and a website to collect individual donations. The Building Blocks Kit (No. 91053) includes a shop stool, retro metal sign, belt wear gauges, preventive maintenance collateral pieces and $150 worth of rebates. Each kit, sold for $99, will generate a $20 donation to RMHC. In addition, direct donations will be accepted at http://www.Gates.com/supportRMHC. Gates employees also will support the program by donating directly and volunteering their time.

Gates said it selected this extraordinary organization that keeps families together and helps kids heal based on the company tradition of helping children that started in the 1930s and continues today. Mrs. Gates recognized the tough times that affected Gates employees during the Depression and started a tradition to provide a gift for all employees’ children during the holiday season.

This tradition to support families during times of need led to a natural fit with the charity, according to Jack Ramsey, senior vice president, North America Aftermarket. “This program combines two of our most important goals as a company: building up businesses in the industry and giving back to our community,” said Ramsey. “It is very satisfying to see so many people coming together and benefitting from each other.”
