Gates Corp. Introduces New Belt Education Display

Gates-Logo-Updated-300x154Gates Corp. has introduced its new System Smart Belt Education Display. The dual-sided, 3-D interactive belt display shows how the individual components of the timing and the serpentine systems work together and wear at the same rate. All information on the countertop display is in both English and Spanish. Educational brochures on total system maintenance as well as a discussion guide for repair shops are also included.

The display will enable repair shops to educate customers of the importance of serpentine and timing belt system maintenance. It is intended to help customers understand how components work and wear in unison so that they can make informed decisions regarding total system replacement in order to prevent inconvenient breakdowns and costly repairs.

“We want to empower repair shops with information to help them explain to their customers the importance of total vehicle system maintenance,” said Scott Howat, Gates director of marketing and product management for the North American Aftermarket. “We hope that by providing system education, we are ultimately helping the end consumer to avoid expensive system failures.”

Gates “Be System Smart” educational initiative promotes inspection of the serpentine and timing systems at 60,000 miles and replacement of worn components at 90,000 miles, or as advised by the manufacturer. For more information on the initiative, visit BeSystemSmart.com or contact a Gates representative.
