Uni-Select Inc. has announced the introduction of a telematics solution, powered by Delphi Automotive PLC, for all 5,000 repair shops within its network in Canada and the United States.
SmartLink is a wireless communication tool that delivers many of the same connected features offered by OEMs plus all-makes coverage, giving vehicle owners the option to connect their vehicle regardless of make or model. SmartLink, a two-way “plug-and play” device, is easily installed into the diagnostic connector located under the vehicle dashboard.
Accessible on any desktop, tablet or smartphone, SmartLink will provide users with reminders and customized alerts as well as educational tips about preventative maintenance. SmartLink will count the DIFM customer and fleet owners as participants and include OE maintenance schedule notifications, service history, check engine light notifications, stolen vehicle locator and battery life monitoring. The data collected can help SmartLink users improve fuel economy and their vehicles’ reliability, as well as reduce operating costs and boost productivity, according to the company. SmartLink also provides reminders for maintenance intervals and makes follow-up with customers and appointment scheduling easier, fostering customer loyalty.
“We are proud to offer our professional service centers, fleets and independent auto parts stores a premium quality telematics solution to connect the vehicles, the drivers and the repair shops,” said Richard Roy, president and CEO of Uni-Select. “We are dedicated to provide repair shops with the best business programs to help them manage and grow their business, and this innovative solution program illustrates this commitment.”
Added Philippe Desnos, president Delphi Product & Service Solutions, “SmartLink creates a connection throughout the entire aftermarket value chain, encouraging better relationships with each link. We are excited to be working with Uni-Select, and that our telematics technology will be available nationally from such a well-respected leader in the automotive aftermarket.”
