Thomson Delmar Learning, a provider of tailored learning solutions for customers in the educational, computer and professional markets, and part of The Thomson Corporation, recently announced the release of the Chilton 2006 Labor Guide Manuals and the Chilton 2006 Labor Guide CD. These manuals and CD include all labor times for 1981 through 2005 domestic and imported vehicles, plus available 2006 models. Chilton labor times reflect the real world environment in which technicians work and include three labor times for most operations: warranty, standard and severe service times.

Chilton labor times are accepted by most insurance and extended warranty companies. Vehicle makes and models conform to current Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association standards. Referencing labor times is even easier as parts terminology has been standardized across different OEMs in these quality professional guides. The Chilton 2006 Labor Guide Manual delivers more than 2,500 pages of updated Chilton labor times for domestic and imported vehicles, including updates to hundreds of earlier models.

New software in the Chilton Labor Guide CD makes creating professional estimates easier than ever. It enables service writers to keep track of customers and estimates. Shop information estimates can be quickly created, saved and retrieved for updating and printing. Service writers can even add parts data to make estimates more complete.

House Subcommittee Votes to Approve REPAIR Act

The REPAIR Act will now go before the full House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Members of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce unanimously voted to advance the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act (H.R. 906) to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Building on two recent congressional hearings and last week’s White House roundtable on Right to Repair, this support from Congress is a promising step forward in codifying vehicle data access protections – as part of the broader right to repair movement – in federal law. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives in February this year by Congressmen Neal Dunn, Brendan Boyle and Warren Davidson as well as Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, the only repair shop owner in Congress. Since then, it has gained an additional 40-plus bipartisan cosponsors.
