SAAB Tech Tip: Low Oil Pressure And Code P0521

Some customers may complain of low oil pressure, no oil pressure, and/or engine noise as well as a possible P0521, which may be the result of a sticking oil pump pressure relief valve. In some instances, this may occur intermittently if the valve frees up when the engine cools down.

Air Ride Replacement And Calibration

Air ride replacement is not always plug and play. Most of the time after an air ride component is replaced, a few extra steps might be required before the vehicle is completely repaired. I ran into one of these situations with a 2004 Jaguar XJ8.

Saab Fuel Sending Unit Replacement

The 2006 Saab 9-3 Sport sedan came in on the hook and the tow truck driver said, “I think it needs a fuel pump.” The gas gauge was reading less than a quarter of a tank and the low fuel warning light wasn’t on, so a quick fuel pressure check was in order. The test showed zero fuel pressure, so I called the customer and asked “does your fuel gauge seem to read normally?”

Tech Tip: Cold Temps Set DTC On Some GM Vehicles

Some GM customers may find that their vehicle’s malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminates after starting the vehicle when using the engine coolant heater in very cold ambient temperatures.

Tech Tip: GMs, Hummers and Saabs May Experience Intermittent MIL with DTC P2138 and Reduced Power

Some customers may comment on an intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) being illuminated with a message or an indicator that displays Reduced Engine Power.

Tool Tip: Drive Belt Misalignment Diagnostics

The EN-49228 Laser Belt Alignment tool was designed to help in eliminating drive belt noise as a result of misaligned pulleys. This precise, simple-to-use and time-saving tool is used to assist technicians in achieving accurate alignment of drive belt pulleys. This special service tool removes the guesswork from achieving proper alignment of the pulley and may reduce comebacks from drive belt noise, accelerated drive belt wear or drive belt slippage.

TECH TIP: GM: ABS Lamp ON/DTC C0040 Set

Some customers may comment that the ABS light is illuminated. This may be caused by the wiring harness coming in contact with the A/C compressor pulley.

GM Tech Tip: Squeak Noise On Brake Pedal Application

Some customers may comment on a squeak noise when the brake pedal is applied or when released. This noise is normally heard when the brake pedal is slowly applied with the engine on or off, but can occur when the brake pedal is released. The noise may be isolated to the master cylinder area.

Tech Update: Can ‘Add-Ons’ Affect CAN Systems? Yes, They Can!

Get any teenager their first car and the first thing they want to do is modify it with new wheels, a different exhaust, seat covers or, the most important and popular upgrade, the stereo. You know, when they have to get to school with all their buddies in the car, they’ve got to have those tunes. They can’t be seen around town with a dull factory radio or wimpy stock wheels.
