While Honda engines have a great reputation for reliability, as the miles accumulate and maintenance is neglected, codes P0300-P0304 can be set for misfires. But a misfire code just indicates that the crank angle sensor didn’t detect the correct change in the speed of the crankshaft. If the engine still has compression, the most likely cause of the misfire could be a fuel injector or ignition coil.
A serpentine belt can look good to the naked eye. But, to the ear, odometer and measuring tools, it could be another story. When you are looking at the belt and the pulleys on which it rides, it is critical to use all of your senses.
On some 2012-2013 Acura ILX, MDX, RDX, TL, TSX and ZDX models, the stock gas cap can cause codes P0455 (EVAP system large leak) and/or P0456 (EVAP system very small leak detected). The gas cap may also be loose or have a stick-slip feeling when tightened.
To understand how any EVAP system in a Honda or other vehicle works, you have to know how the EPA tests for evaporative emissions. The EPA tests these systems by putting a car in a sealed chamber. The vehicle is “hot soaked” to simulate the car being run, parked and allowed to cool. Sensitive sensors in the chamber detect the presence of fuel vapor.
The term “electric vehicles” (EVs) has now evolved to “battery electric vehicles” (BEVs) to differentiate battery-powered electric from fuel cell-powered electric vehicles. Why BEVs? First, and from a manufacturer’s point of view, BEVS meet all federal and state vehicle emissions requirements without continually modifying complex engine designs, catalytic exhaust systems and engine management software.
You might assume that the Honda Ridgeline shares a lot of the same components as the Pilot. Aside from the general proportions, the Ridgeline is a different vehicle made in a different plant. The brakes on the Ridgeline are robust and have very few problems with noise or pulsation. Where the service issues can be found are with the parking brake and hydraulics.
Many automakers, including Toyota and Honda, have changed their lineup of engines to improve fuel economy and emissions. Gone are the high-revving 1.8L and 2.0L four-cylinder engines. Replacing them are engines with displacements ranging from 2.3L to 2.5L. These engines are more efficient and produce more power lower in the power band. But, these new engines increase the stroke and not the bore, making for some unique vibration conditions the motor mounts have to minimize.

Wideband air/fuel oxygen sensors may appear similar to conventional narrowband oxygen sensors, but there are quite a few differences that you need to be aware of to service vehicles with this new style sensor.
A cup seal in the master cylinder is sensitive to the type of brake fluid used in the brake system. If the brake fluid is replaced with anything other than Acura (or Honda) Genuine DOT 3 Brake Fluid, and the brakes are manually bled, the cup seal may twist in its retention groove and create a small leak. The brake fluid can then leak into the brake booster, and the brake system indicator will eventually come on because the brake fluid level is low.
There are more than four million hybrid vehicles in the U.S. All of them are equipped with brakes and wheel bearings. When servicing hybrid vehicles, it is critical that the hybrid or regenerative brake systems be disabled. It should also be a common practice to remove the keys from the vehicle and place them in an area that is far enough away from the vehicle, as some hybrid systems will sense if the key is near. As the driver approaches the vehicle, some vehicles will not only unlock the doors, but also activate systems like brakes and the drivetrain.
