NGK Spark Plugs was honored by General Motors for overall excellence in supporting GM’s product efforts during ceremonies Thursday, Jan. 11, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI.

“GM strives to build the best cars and trucks in the world, and the leadership and employees of NGK Spark Plugs represent what it takes to make GM’s products successful,” said Bo Andersson, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “We honor these companies at the North American International Auto Show to remind the industry and the public and to illustrate the critical role our suppliers play in developing GM vehicles globally.”

“We are honored by this prestigious award and appreciate the acknowledgement of General Motors,” said Shinich Odo, president and CEO of NGK Spark Plugs (USA), Inc. “Winning this award is a testament to the NGK team and our commitment to provide our customers with superior quality and service.”

This is the sixth year GM has honored suppliers at the North American International Auto Show. The supplier awards recognize a supplier’s performance in quality, cost and delivery, as well as contributions to production and concept vehicles GM unveils at the NAIAS.

House Subcommittee Votes to Approve REPAIR Act

The REPAIR Act will now go before the full House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Members of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce unanimously voted to advance the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act (H.R. 906) to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Building on two recent congressional hearings and last week’s White House roundtable on Right to Repair, this support from Congress is a promising step forward in codifying vehicle data access protections – as part of the broader right to repair movement – in federal law. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives in February this year by Congressmen Neal Dunn, Brendan Boyle and Warren Davidson as well as Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, the only repair shop owner in Congress. Since then, it has gained an additional 40-plus bipartisan cosponsors.
