Modine Manufacturing Company announced recently that its Joplin, MO, facility has reached a significant milestone, producing its 1,000,000th Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler for truck, off-highway and heavy-duty vehicles.
“These EGR coolers help our customers continue to meet their challenging engine applications, while at the same time reaching the tougher U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards that keep air cleaner for all of us. We are proud to produce this EGR technology and to reach this milestone so quickly,” said Curt Spieker, Joplin plant manager.
EGR coolers are used on diesel engines to cool and re-circulate a percentage of the exhaust gas in order to promote more effective combustion and remove the nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates. This results in cleaner air for the environment. The EGR coolers produced in Joplin are used on International Truck and Engine V-8 and I-6 models and John Deere Engines to meet EPA on-road and off-road emissions regulations.
