Mitchell 1 announces that it has increased the data in its OnDemand Repair Information System by 30 percent in the second quarter of 2006, for a total of 22 gigabytes of information that has been added to the system in the past three quarters. The new data has more than doubled the size of the 17-year-old product over the past three quarters.

“The growth of our OnDemand system is unprecedented in this industry – experiencing 26, 29, and 30 percent increases in each of the past three quarters,” said Gary Hixson, product manager for Mitchell 1. “This further demonstrates our organization’s strong commitment to providing professional technicians with the most complete automotive repair database in the industry.”

In addition, 900,000 graphics have been added to the OnDemand Repair Information System in the past year.

As a special benefit to its web-based OnDemand5.com customers, these vast content increases are available on an expedited monthly basis that requires no customer action – the new data is simply there and ready to use each month.

House Subcommittee Votes to Approve REPAIR Act

The REPAIR Act will now go before the full House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Members of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce unanimously voted to advance the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act (H.R. 906) to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Building on two recent congressional hearings and last week’s White House roundtable on Right to Repair, this support from Congress is a promising step forward in codifying vehicle data access protections – as part of the broader right to repair movement – in federal law. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives in February this year by Congressmen Neal Dunn, Brendan Boyle and Warren Davidson as well as Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, the only repair shop owner in Congress. Since then, it has gained an additional 40-plus bipartisan cosponsors.
