2016 Mazda CX-5Mazda Sales Off To Big Start In 2015

Mazda North American Operations kicked off 2015 with 20,271 vehicles sold in the U.S. in January, representing an increase of 7.7% versus last year. “Coming off our best sales year in 20 years, Mazda vehicle sales have continued the positive momentum into 2015,” said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, MNAO. “Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 all performed very well in January and our dealers’ success is the product of focusing on fundamentals and building Mazda’s brand value with our customers.”

In January 2015, 86.8% of Mazdas sold were equipped with SkyActiv Technology, the company’s next generation platform. SkyActiv is designed to significantly improve engine efficiency thanks to its high-compression combustion, resulting in 15% increases in fuel efficiency and torque. A highly efficient automatic transmission achieves excellent torque transfer efficiency through a wider lock-up range and features the best attributes of all transmission types. In the chassis, a newly developed front strut and rear multilink suspension ensures high rigidity and lightness — the entire chassis is 14% lighter than the previous version.

Mazda CX-5 saw its best January ever with 5,949 vehicles sold and an increase of 19% YOY. This is the 12th consecutive month of YOY increases for CX-5 sales. The CX-5 was also the first model to fully adopt SkyActiv Technology for its engine, transmission, body and chassis.
