ASC Industries Receives ISO 14001 Certification

ASC Industries Inc., a United Components Inc. company, has announced that it recently acquired its ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification at its worldwide headquarters and manufacturing facility in North Canton, OH.

ASC Industries Inc., a United Components Inc. company, has announced that it recently acquired its ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification at its worldwide headquarters and manufacturing facility in North Canton, OH.

“This is yet another milestone for ASC, reaffirming its role as the Center of Excellence for new water pumps worldwide,” exclaimed ASC President and CEO Ted Swaldo.

As a result of the ISO 14001 certification implementation, ASC documents and monitors its environmental policies and objectives, documents continuous improvement projects as they relate to company-wide environmental management, and monitors and manages all subsequential legal and EPA requirements. The certification has established a format in which ASC can communicate its environmental policies with the surrounding community, thus reaffirming its commitment to its neighbors, as well as all ASC employees. In addition, the ISO 14001 certification provides ASC the means to integrate its environmental management system into its ISO/TS 16949 quality management system.

“Through teamwork, focus and caring, ASC has established and implemented this system of checks and balances to ensure its commitment to quality, while maintaining a positive environmental perspective," stated Jim Carlin, ASC quality assurance system manager.

House Subcommittee Votes to Approve REPAIR Act

The REPAIR Act will now go before the full House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Members of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce unanimously voted to advance the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act (H.R. 906) to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

Building on two recent congressional hearings and last week’s White House roundtable on Right to Repair, this support from Congress is a promising step forward in codifying vehicle data access protections – as part of the broader right to repair movement – in federal law. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives in February this year by Congressmen Neal Dunn, Brendan Boyle and Warren Davidson as well as Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, the only repair shop owner in Congress. Since then, it has gained an additional 40-plus bipartisan cosponsors.
