Toyota HVAC Evaporator Drain Hose Clogged Due To Insect Intrusion

Vehicles in certain areas may exhibit a condition where the HVAC evaporator drain hose has become obstructed with an insect nest. Find out how you can fix it.

Vehicles in certain geographic areas may exhibit a condition where the HVAC evaporator drain hose has become obstructed with an insect nest. An insect repellent drain hose tip (ARINIX tip) is now available to help minimize future occurrences of this condition. A new drain hose is required to properly fit the ARINIX tip on some models.

Note: The ARINIX tip contains permethrin pesucide as the active ingredient. Be careful handling the tip, and wash your hands after installation.

Repair Procedure:

1. Follow the safety requirement instructions for handling the ARINIX tip.

2. Locate the HVAC evaporator drain hose.

3. Remove the HVAC evaporator drain hose, following the vehicle-specific repair manual.

4. Put on all necessary personal protective equipment and install the ARINIX tip into the new HVAC evaporator drain hose.

5. When installing the ARINIX tip, verify that it is fully seated in the HVAC evaporator drain hose. Some kits come with a piece of hose that is bent to accommodate the new tip.

6. Install the HVAC evaporator drain hose following the vehicle-specific repair manual.

Honda Oil System Inspection

The leading cause of low oil pressure-related complaints with Honda vehicles is the oil level.

Just about every engine lubrication system, including Honda’s, operates the same in theory. An oil pump generates the pressure, oil is sent to oil galleys, and then flows back into the pan. In practice, however, it is much more complicated. An oil system practically manages a controlled leak into the oil pan.
